There's a reason so many creatives and entrepreneurs put down roots in Fort Collins: this town runs on collaboration, not competition. Who doesn’t want more of that?

In the video production world especially, it's common to see companies pass projects to one another simply because someone else's skill set is the better fit — a lighting specialist recommending a colorist, a drone operator connecting a client with an editor who nails narrative pacing. We recently met the Braker Bros (who beat us and many others out for a 5-year contract with Larimer County) because we just had to see who won this amazing project! Not only were they kind and funny, they were humble and gracious, not an entitled bone in either of the brother’s bodies. And, they do conservation-focused videos better than anyone, so check ‘em out.

That kind of generosity isn't the exception here; it's the norm. It's a rare and refreshing way to do business, and it means everyone's work gets better because of it.

Fort Collins is also fiercely local-led. From the breweries to the boutiques to the production houses, this is a city that shows up for its own. People here would rather support a neighbor's small business than default to a big-box alternative, and that loyalty creates a foundation that lets small businesses actually take root and grow instead of just scraping by. On top of that, this city is a creative hub in the truest sense. Musicians, photographers, painters, bakers and makers of all kinds cross paths constantly — at coffee shops, at shows, at markets — and those chance encounters turn into collaborations more often than not. There's an energy here that comes from being surrounded by people who are also building something, which makes the work feel less like a grind and more like a shared pursuit.
